Vancouver, BC, Canada — July 29, 2014To accelerate the development and deployment of communications services on existing and next-generation networks, Oracle today announced the Oracle Service Delivery Platform (SDP) Partner Initiative. Sharing a common vision for standards-based service delivery, Oracle and its partners have joined forces to collaborate and provide an expanded source of solutions to the communications industry. Partners including Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), infrastructure vendors, and System Integrators (SIs), can benefit from this initiative by using the Oracle SDP to deliver comprehensive, standards-based solutions to their customers.
The communications industry is in the midst of unprecedented change driven by the ubiquity of IP-based networks, standardization of service interfaces and adoption of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) as the defacto-standard signaling protocol. By utilizing the strengths that Oracle brings to the market, companies participating in the Oracle SDP Partner Initiative can now significantly increase market access and reduce time to market. Communications service providers (CSPs) are looking to standards-based platforms to build and deploy revenue-generating services on next-generation networks such as IP multimedia subsystems (IMS) and VoIP. They require programming environments that support open standards, enable service portability and facilitate rapid innovation and differentiation without sacrificing service quality. The Oracle SDP meets these needs by providing an open, standards-based execution environment that combines Internet-like development speed – through Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and software component re-usability – with carrier-grade performance and reliability. Building on the high performance and high availability capabilities of Oracle® Fusion Middleware and Oracle’s grid infrastructure, the Oracle SDP is well suited in an IMS deployment scenario, where it serves as a highly-scalable, fault tolerant SIP application and presence server, enabling CSPs to build and deploy revenue-generating services that are portable across networks.
“Partnerships will play a critical role in the SDP market over the next several years,” said Shira Levine, senior analyst in IDC’s Next-Generation OSS and Billing practice. “A standards-based service delivery platform solution that includes a vibrant partner ecosystem will enable both rapid service deployments and a broad range of new services for operators and consumers alike.”
The Oracle SDP partner ecosystem will drive additional value to customers by providing an expanded source of solutions representing a full range of integrated, easily deployed network components, applications and services including:
- ISVs &ndash creating a portfolio of consumer and enterprise applications, such as voice enabled gaming, messaging, IPTV, audio conferencing and location and presence-based services using reusable components that increase flexibility and reduce time-to-market for service providers;
- Infrastructure providers &ndash developing a broad, full-featured and integrated service delivery infrastructure incorporating offerings such as Parlay gateways, softphone clients, media servers and OSS/BSS systems; and,
- SIs &ndash delivering joint solution blueprints, best practices and custom solutions to address specific customer requirements.
“The Oracle SDP Partner Initiative builds upon Oracle’s investment and momentum in the communications market to help harness, cultivate and integrate a breed of innovative solutions for the industry,” said Vittorio Viarengo, vice president of development, Oracle.“Oracle is strongly committed to working closely with its partners to unleash the potential of having hundreds of pre-built revenue-generating services readily available on a standard-based platform for our customers.”
Partners Enthusiastically Endorse Oracle SDP Initiative
